Mount Rinjani Closed for Three Months for Ecosystem Restoration or Nature Conservation, Mount Rinjani will reopen on 16 March 2024
Mount Rinjani National Park in West Nusa Tenggara, a popular destination for hikers, will be closed for three months from 1 January to 31 March 2021 to “restore its ecosystem or conserve nature” announced by the management of the Gunung Rinjani National Park, Mount Rinjani will reopen on 16 March 2024
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) also warned of extreme conditions, including heavy rains, that could potentially pose a danger to visitors in the first three months of next year.
Mount Rinjani is part of the Rinjani-Lombok Unesco Global Geopark on Lombok Island.
If anyone offers you a trekking trip to Rinjani during a closed period it means ILLEGAL with deportation penalty.
Further notification from the national park management through our office in Mataram, because some trekking paths need maintenance, especially the trekking path to the top and down to the crater lake, the reason is to reopen with limited restrictions & trekkers.
